Hfacebook timelineas your hospital’s Facebook page changed over to the new Timeline format yet? What are your thoughts? We’re excited to play around with designing some fancy new cover photos.

We are also in the process of streamlining our websites (TPRmedia.com and Ubicare.com) and product lines into one, so this Facebook redesign couldn’t come at a better time. We’re taking advantage of the opportunity to really show who we are as a company on a whole. (Stay tuned!)

In the meantime, here’s a checklist to help you get the most out of the new Facebook features:

  1. Design a cover image that tells your story and don’t limit yourself to only one. Changing the image occasionally keeps your page looking fresh and gives you more freedom to play with photos and stories you want to share. (Hint: The size of the cover photo area is 851 by 315 pixels.  Email us with your contact info if you’d like an easy-to-use Photoshop template to help you with the process!)
  2. Choose your tabs wisely. Creating designated pages for what you care about most gives you the space to tell what you need to say. We also recommend that you always keep your Photos section in the featured tabs.
  3. Engage your audience. You have a Facebook because you have things to say and want people to know about them, right? There is now a “pin” option, which allows you to keep a story on the top of your page for up to seven days. You can also “star” posts so they appear larger than others.
  4. Go back in time! Use the timeline to your advantage and post in the past. This is the perfect opportunity to show your milestones and roots, whether they are pictures of your team or the stories of how you grew.

What Facebook pages have you seen that have made an impression on you?

While I was perusing some brand pages, Ben & Jerry’s really stuck out. (I swear it has nothing to do with this uncanny heat wave or my sweet tooth!) Check out our page, too. What do you think? What are some of your favorite examples of organization’s use of the new pages?

We’re also taking this opportunity to let you show off your new page. Leave your brand’s Facebook page link along with your contact info in the comments section or email us. We will pick the most impressive page and send the winner a $20 Starbucks gift card and sign your hospital up for a three free months of our social media service.
