It happens to all of us: you’ve been sitting at your desk for an hour, and you’re stuck at a mental roadblock. Maybe that spreadsheet just won’t cooperate, maybe you’ve been playing phone tag, or maybe you can’t quite figure out how to phrase that press release.

When you’re stuck, try stepping out of the office and finding a set of stairs. Walk briskly up a flight or two and then return to your desk. Not only are you getting some movement into your day, but you might just clear the cobwebs from your head with a brilliant, inspirational thought!

Climbing stairs not only combats too much sitting, various fitness experts say that each minute you spend walking up and down stairs burns 3-16 calories, depending on how much you weigh and how fast you take the stairs. The longer and faster you do it, the more calories burned.
